Fernley Flood Pics

Here are some pics of some houses in the flood zone. Some of the cars you see were stuck in the water and were towed away shortly after these pics. This whole week has been spent emptying out homes of everything and piling obvious losses on the front lawns. There were some great people just going up and down the streets every day with trailors gathering people's things and hauling them to the dumpsters provided by the city. Some "PODS" were donated to many people which are on front lawns so that people could store whatever was salvageable. For some that was very little. Then everyone had to rip out all flooring which was quite a task because it was all saturated with mud. Then people started ripping out their walls-all of them. That means pulling out all the kitchen cabinets, bathroom sinks and tubs, and anything else to get the walls out. Some people donated these huge blow dryers to people and that is what is going on now for the most part. It is going to take days to dry everything out.
Some friends of ours had their crawlspace full of mud which had to be cleared out so that the area under the house could be dried out. That is where the boy scouts and our awesome church volunteers stepped in. They were completely covered with mud. On Saturday Calvary Chapel along with some other churches and community people organized a cleanup day and provided child care for those who wanted to help. Hundreds of people got out there and helped out. I hear it was awesome. Unfortunately, or not, Erik and I had to attend a long awaited Foster Care class that day because the next one within driving distance would have been months away if we had missed it. It was awesome.
Sorry this is all so scattered but this is about all the time I have right now. Praise God for our little community!
